There is no evidence-based timetable showing that homeopathy will improve a health condition. A responsible practitioner should not promise results after a set number of days, remedies or appointments.
Why there is no standard duration
Homeopaths traditionally individualise their consultations, so suggested follow-up intervals vary. People also differ in their reasons for attending, medical care and availability. None of this creates evidence that a homeopathic product will change a condition.
What can be planned
- The length and format of the first appointment.
- When the clinic will confirm any product or written directions.
- A suitable point to review what has changed.
- How to contact the clinic between appointments.
- When to stop the complementary process and seek medical reassessment.
What should not be promised
- A cure or permanent result.
- Improvement within a fixed number of hours, days or weeks.
- That a long-standing concern only needs more time or a stronger potency.
- That an initial worsening proves the remedy is working.
- That conventional treatment can be reduced after a certain number of visits.
How to review progress safely
Agree in advance what you will track. Use ordinary observations such as sleep routine, daily function or the questions you want to raise with your GP. Do not reinterpret worsening symptoms as a positive sign without medical assessment.
Keep prescribed treatment unchanged unless the appropriate prescriber advises otherwise. If symptoms are new, persistent, worsening or worrying, contact your GP, NHS 111 or emergency services as appropriate.
Questions before paying for a package
- How many appointments are included?
- What happens if I decide not to continue?
- Are remedies, postage or messages included?
- Is a refund or cancellation policy published?
- What review would make the practitioner refer me to medical care?
